Trot Nixon had an awful first have of the season for the Indians but he has turned it around a little bit in the second half of the season.  In 22 games since the All-Star Break, Nixon is 21 for 63 (.333 avg, .797 OPS) with 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs.  Nixon is still losing time to Franklin Gutierrez in right field because his power seems to be gone.  Nixon has now played in 91 games this season and he is 75 for 290 (.259 avg, .695 OPS) with 30 runs scored, 3 homers and 31 RBIs.

One goddamn hit against the Tiger’s dildo Jurrjen, just moved up from AAA. This offense is a joke and Wedge should get canned. Forget this season; we better get some hitting next year.

The Cleveland Indians have sold 3B/OF Russell Branyan to the Philadelphia Phillies for cold, hard cash.  They also officially released reliever Fernando Cabrera after exhausting a lot of attempts to trade him.

The Indians have made another nice move in bringing in Chris Gomez off of waivers from the Orioles.  He can handle every position on the infield defensively and he has hit the ball well this season.  He played in 73 games for the Orioles this season and he was 51 for 169 (.302 avg, .730 OPS) with 17 runs scored, 1 homer and 16 RBIs.  The Indians have sent lefty starting pitcher Aaron Laffey to AAA to make room on the roster for Gomez.  Laffey has started 2 games this season for the Indians and he is 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP.  In 11 innings this season for the Tribe he has allowed 11 hits, walked 4 batters and whiffed 5.

The Indians have designated infielder Mike Rouse for assignment.  He has played in 41 games this season for the Indians and he was 8 for 67 (.119 avg, .334 OPS) with 7 runs scored and 4 RBIs.  The Indians have recalled switch-hitting rookie Asdrubal Cabrera to replace Rouse on the bench and on the roster.  This move makes the Indians better instantly.
